Once upon a time, there was a bookish little girl named Kellye. Given free reign to all the books she could handle thanks to her mom the librarian, she read, and read, and read. Then she started writing her own stories.
Eventually, she became an award-winning editor – one of LinkedIn’s Top 10 Media Voices among other accolades – blogger and content strategist with a passion for large, gold hoop earrings and skincare…
Fairy tale intros aside, I’m a writer, a journalist, a social media voice, a digital content producer and all around creative. I’ve covered a variety of industries including: business, education, diversity, talent management, music, entertainment and more.
I rock in B2B publishing, corporate and independent project environments. I’ve run magazines, I speak at events, and I run a media consulting and content creation company called KellyeMedia. I also write romance novels under a secret pen name – no I won’t tell you what it is.
I have a BA in news-editorial journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia, I never hesitate to offer my opinions on things within the pages of this blog, and I live in Chicago.
Let’s see…what else? Of course! Work.
A Life Not Grey began in 2008 with the launch of Diversity Executive magazine, an award-winning publication I helped start. The print magazine shuttered in 2014 after earning a lot of love and respect from a large community of inclusion-minded executives and practitioners. But the diversity in the workplace theme continued via this blog as well as my social media.
In January 2018, the blog theme changed from “diversity and inclusion in the workplace” to “the intersection between media, content and the diverse world we all live in.” I talk about a lot of the same themes, I just added a bit more cultural zeitgeist and expanded my coverage a bit.
